Road transport
The transport system of Rwanda is mainly centered around road network including paved roads that lie between the capital, Kigali and most other major cities and towns in the country. Also, by use of roads, Rwanda was linked with other countries in the African Great Lakes via which the country’s imports and exports are made. Rwanda has been investing heavily in its road network and of a total of 12,000 kilometers of roads, 1,000 kilometers are paved. The main artery is the Northern Corridor, which connects Rwanda to Kenya’s Mombasa port. The road network within the country is continually expanding, including highways and rural roads to improve accessibility.
Airports
The main international gateway is Kigali International Airport (IATA: KGL), located in the capital city of Kigali. It’s a major hub for air travel in the region. There are also smaller airports in other cities like Kamembe and Gitarama. The airport conducts international flights to different cities like Lagos, Brazzaville, Dubai, Entebbe, Nairobi, Addis Ababa, Bujumbura, Johannesburg, Amsterdam, Doha, Brussels and others.
